How Botox can erase the signs of agingbotox

When you look at your face in the mirror, do you like what you see? Do you still look as young as you used to, or do you notice fine lines and wrinkles, the first signs of aging? If you are starting to get fine lines and wrinkles, the good news is, you can fight back! The answer is Botox! Dr. Douglas Hegyi at Northpointe Ear Nose Throat & Cosmetic Surgery Center wants to share the facts about Botox. He has two convenient office locations in Lapeer and Rochester, MI to serve your needs.

Fine lines and wrinkles are the result of changes in your skin due to aging. As you get older, your skin becomes drier and its elasticity decreases. Your skin’s ability to “snap back” after frowning, laughing or showing other emotions is decreased. The result is fine lines and wrinkles beginning to show up around your eyes, mouth, nose and forehead.

Botox has a long history of safety and effectiveness in combating lines and wrinkles. Botox comes from a material produced by a bacterium known as Clostridium botulinum. It smoothes out the skin and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles by temporarily “freezing” the nerves and muscles near the treatment site. After Botox treatment, your skin will be noticeably smoother and more youthful looking.

Botox treatment can reduce the appearance of:

  • Crow’s feet; the lines at the corners of your eyes
  • Glabella; the lines between your eyebrows
  • Furrows; the lines in your forehead
  • Lines around your mouth and nose caused by smiling and laughing

Microdermabrasion is an excellent option if you're concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, acne scars and other skin issues. microdermabrasionDr. Douglas Hegyi of Northpointe Ear Nose Throat & Cosmetic Surgery Center in Lapeer and Rochester, MI, explains how microdermabrasion works. The service is offered at his Options MedSpa.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion removes the outer layer of the skin that contains fine lines, shallow scar, and other flaws. The treatment also helps form collagen, the protein that gives skin its elasticity. When collagen thickens, your skin becomes tighter and smoother.

Who can benefit from microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion treatments can be helpful if you have:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Lines and wrinkles located in the top layers of your skin disappear after microdermabrasion treatment. The treatment is not a good option for deep wrinkles.
  • Age Spots and Hyperpigmentation: Microdermabrasion is an excellent choice if you're concerned about age spots and dark patches of skin on your face.
  • Pore Reduction: Loss of skin elasticity as you age can enlarge your pores. Microdermabrasion treatment firms collagen and shrinks pores.
  • Acne: The treatment unclogs pores and also diminishes the appearance of light scars.
  • Stretch Marks: Microdermabrasion can also be helpful in minimizing the appearance of stretch marks.
  • More Vibrant Skin Tone: Treatment removes dead skin cells that can dull your complexion. Microdermabrasion may be used before a facial or a chemical peel.

What happens during a microdermabrasion treatment?

Your skin is thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt and impurities before your treatment begins in our Lapeer or Rochester offices. Because microdermabrasion gently removes the top layer of the skin with a spray of fine crystals, you may be given a pair of goggles to wear to prevent stray crystals from getting in your eyes. The handheld device used to spray the crystals uses vacuum suction to retrieve the used crystals and the loosened dead skin cells. Treatment usually takes about 30 minutes and isn't painful. After your treatment, your skin will look a little red, and you will notice some minor peeling during the next several days. Once peeling ends, your skin will look firmer and smoother.

Microdermabrasion offers a gentle, non-invasive way to improve your appearance. Make an appointment by calling (810) 664-7640 for the Lapeer, MI, office or (248) 844-3690 for the Rochester, MI, office.

Turn back those hands of time and get more youthful-looking skin with dermal fillers.fillers

Most people shy away from cosmetic services because they often picture invasive procedures that require incisions and long recovery times, but you can still get younger and more radiant skin without aggressive or time-consuming treatments. In fact, our Lapeer and Rochester, MI, cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Douglas Hegyi, can improve the appearance of wrinkles in a matter of minutes.

Do you love to laugh but hate those laugh lines? Have your lips starting to thin out as you get older? Are crow’s feet the only thing you notice when you look in the mirror? If you said “yes” then dermal fillers might just be the best cosmetic option for you.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are cosmetic injections that are used to increase volume in areas of the face that are beginning to thin out, sag or crease. It’s also great for reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and superficial scars (e.g. acne scars). As we get older our skin begins to lose volume, but dermal fillers can contour and plump up the skin and lips to create a more youthful appearance.

What goes into getting dermal fillers?

This procedure is extremely easy and straightforward. These injections are administered right here in our office and it only takes a couple minutes. For more sensitive or anxious patients, we can apply a numbing cream beforehand to minimize any discomfort. Even without the numbing ointment, patients report only feeling a slight pinch.

There is no recovery time when you get dermal fillers so you can head right back to work or go back to your daily activities right after. There really are no restrictions. While you probably won’t notice results right away you will start to see results after a couple of days (with full results appearing within one week). Results can last several months and up to a year or more, depending on the type of dermal filler you choose. Of course, you can continue to get injections every few months to keep your results fresh.

Who should consider dermal fillers?

Anyone dealing with the issues above who is looking for a simple and non-invasive cosmetic treatment might want to talk to our Lapeer and Rochester cosmetic surgeon about whether dermal fillers could be the best choice. It’s important to talk to us about your treatment goals. While dermal fillers can certainly improve the appearance of wrinkles and lines it won’t be able to offer the same results as a facelift or cosmetic surgery.

Are you interested in getting dermal fillers in Lapeer or Rochester, MI? Then turn to the caring experts at Northpointe Ear Nose Throat & Cosmetic Surgery Center and take years off your face in no time.

Do you want to get fuller, perkier breasts in the New Year?

Have you always wished that you had fuller, larger breasts? Are you tired of wearing padded bras? Then it might be time to consider Breast augmentationretiring those bras for something a bit more long-term like breast augmentation. Our Rochester and Lapeer, MI cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Douglas Hegyi, has the answers to your questions regarding this procedure and what makes a good candidate for treatment.

What is a breast augmentation?

This cosmetic surgery is designed to improve breast volume and to increase the size of your breasts. It can even improve breast fullness and the appearance of asymmetrical breasts. While this is often considered an aesthetic procedure it can also be used to reconstruct breasts after a mastectomy.

What are the steps taken in this cosmetic surgery procedure?

General anesthesia is used for anyone undergoing breast augmentation. A small incision will be made in the breast. There are different types of incisions that can be made to make the scar less visible. The type and size of the implant will determine the type of incision that we make.

Then the implant is placed through the incision. The breast implant may be placed either above or below the pectoral muscle. Once the implant has been placed we will close up the incision with stitches or surgical tape.

Who is a good candidate for breast augmentation?

Those who are unhappy with the way their breasts look but are otherwise healthy and have realistic goals and expectations for cosmetic surgery will be the best candidates for this procedure. By scheduling an appointment with our cosmetic surgeon we will be able to perform a physical examination to determine whether you could benefit from a breast augmentation.

Botox offers an easy, temporary way to minimize fine lines and wrinkles that can make you appear older. Dr. Douglas Hegyi, your botoxcosmetic surgeon at Northpointe Ear Nose Throat & Cosmetic Surgery Center in Lapeer and Rochester, MI, discusses how Botox treatment can help you look your best.

How does Botox work?

Botox targets dynamic wrinkles, which develop when you make facial expressions. When you receive Botox treatment, a small amount of the purified botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles under your skin. The toxin stops nerve signals from reaching your muscles and prevents the muscles from contracting. When the muscles no longer contract, the skin relaxes and those fine lines and wrinkles become less noticeable. Botox injections are temporary and usually last about three to six months. In order to maintain your appearance, you'll need to receive more injections periodically.

Can Botox in Lapeer and Rochester help me?

Botox injections are a good choice if you want to improve the appearance of:

Horizontal Lines on Your Forehead: Years of squinting, frowning and making other facial expressions can cause furrows that cross your forehead. Botox injections offer an excellent way to smooth out the skin on your brow.

Vertical Lines Between the Eyes: Lines between your eyes can make you look tired or angry when you're perfectly rested and in a great mood. After Botox treatment, the lines will gradually become much less obvious.

Crow's Feet: Laughing and smiling causes small wrinkles at the corners of your eyes. Botox treatment relaxes those wrinkles and helps you look more youthful.

Nasolabial Folds: Nasolabial folds, the lines that extend from your nose to your mouth, tend to become more pronounced with time. Botox injections offer a subtle way to improve the look of the folds.

Lines on Your Neck: Many people forget about their necks when considering cosmetic treatments. Unfortunately, lines and bands can make you look older, even if your face is line-free. Botox is just as effective on neck lines and bands as it is on facial wrinkles.

Turn back time with Botox treatments! Call Dr. Hegyi, your cosmetic surgeon at Northpointe Ear Nose Throat & Cosmetic Surgery Center in Lapeer and Rochester, MI, to schedule a Botox appointment.
